Uniform

All items brought to School whether uniform or non-uniform must be clearly named, preferably with woven name tapes or indelible ink for non fabric items.  The correct School uniform should be worn in School and when travelling to and from School.

Items marked with an * must be purchased from Horncastles, 66 High Street, Sevenoaks TN13 1JR 01732 453574 at www.horncastles.co.uk. sales@horncastles.co.uk.  There is normally a 5% discount during July.

The Senior School Second Hand Uniform Shop has moved to the School’s EBH Creative Arts Centre located at the bottom of the netball courts (11 Bayham Road). In the Summer term 2024 the shop will be open on the following Thursdays from 3.45 – 4.45pm:

  • April 18th
  • May 2nd & 16th
  • June 6th & 20th
  • July 4th

The shop welcomes card or contactless payments only. Walthamstow Hall parents are invited to make donations of uniform in good condition. Summer uniform may be worn from the Tuesday following the first May Bank Holiday, and Winter uniform is compulsory from the last Monday in September.

Uniform List

  • * Black Blazer
  • * Grey pleated skirt, knee length (Y7 – Y11)
  • *Black trousers – tailored and smart; this M&S version will also be acceptable.
  • * White long sleeved open-necked shirt with embroidered badge (winter)
  • * Short sleeved blouse with embroidered badge (summer)
  • * Short sleeved cotton dress, knee length (optional – summer)
  • * Black school jumper
  • * School scarf (optional, but other scarves should not be worn)
  • * White science overall with initials clearly embroidered on front
  • Plain black or charcoal grey coat (not jacket length)
  • Shoes – plain black leather and low heeled
  • Plain black tights or grey knee length socks (winter)
  • White or black ankle socks or flesh coloured tights should be worn with summer uniform
  • Plain black or charcoal grey coat (not jacket length)
  • Gloves, if worn, should be black
  • Plain black or dark grey coat (not jacket length)
  • Plain black stretch fabric trousers for drama
  • Plain black round neck T shirt for drama
  • Suitable school bag – preferably rucksack type
  • No jewellery, make up or nail varnish.  For pierced ears, one pair of discreet plain metal ear studs may be worn in ear lobes only.  A religious symbol such as a confirmation cross may be worn discreetly.

Sports Kit

The correct sports kit, every item clearly named, must be worn for practices, lessons and matches.  Items prefixed with the following symbols should be purchased from specific retailers:

  • Mouth guard: ‘boil & bite’ versions can be purchased at  sports shops.
  • MSP The option for a bespoke, fitted mouthguard via a dental professional who will visit the School at the beginning of the autumn term is available via My School Portal New Parents/Forms to complete/Lunch and other items
  • Swimming Kit – compulsory for Years 7 & 8 only:
  • One-piece black swimming costume
  • Goggles

Care of Property

All clothes and equipment brought into School must be marked with the name of the owner.  Money must be kept at all times on the owner’s person or handed to a member of staff for safe-keeping. Although every attempt will be made to recover lost property, the School accepts no responsibility for property lost in School.  Parents are, therefore, advised to see that their child’s belongings (such as calculators, watches, mobile phones etc.) are fully insured whilst at School.  They are not covered by the School’s insurance policies.
