Forest School enables pupils to explore their natural woodland environment in all weathers throughout the different seasons. It aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, independent and creative learners.
Each class from Early Years through to Year 3 receives at least half a term of sessions in Forest School. In Pre-Prep (Early Years to Year 2) Forest School forms part of the Wellbeing Programme, along with Yoga and ‘Go Green’ – which is a series of activities promoting environmental awareness.
Each session equates to three lessons on the timetable and takes place within the School grounds.
Our Forest School Leader, Mrs Norton, is an outside specialist with the top Level Three Forest School qualifications. She is helped by form teacher Mrs Fassnidge, who is also a Level Three Forest School practitioner. Where appropriate, Mrs Fassnidge incorporates elements of the indoor curriculum into the sessions, enriching the pupils’ classroom work.
