Biology

Biology helps us to understand the complex ways in which living organisms work, how they interact with each other and with their surroundings. It also gives us an appreciation of the impact of humans on their environment, for good or ill, and of how some human diseases are caused.

All girls study Biology from the IIIrd Form (Year 7) to Upper V (Year 11) and it is a popular choice at AS and A2 level. Apart from being a fascinating and rewarding subject in its own right, Biology combines well with Chemistry and Geography at AS level. It is also chosen by non-scientists as a complement to their essay-based subjects. Girls are encouraged, at all stages, to relate what they are learning about during lessons to what they see happening and read about outside school.
