We’ve been mushing potatoes, carrots and bananas for an experiment to test the Vitamin C content of various foodstuffs.

Levels of the vitamin are measured after first adding starch solution to the food, then counting how many drops of tincture of iodine are needed to turn the mixture black.

Year 12 chemists have organised this experiment for everyone in the School to take part in. Pupils from the Junior School and other local primary schools will also join in.

The results will be shared on the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Global Experiment website.
