Our curling news is headlined by Mia in Year 13, (in the centre of this photograph) who has recently returned from Finland where she was competing as a member of the England Junior Women’s Team, at the World Junior-B Curling Championships.

Mia’s team reached the quarter finals and finished fifth out of 21 teams competing; an impressive result considering the team formed less than a year ago and this was their first international outing.

Their quarter final was against Russia, who were relegated from Group A last year and against whom they lost 5-10.

Back at home, our Walthamstow Hall team started the year competing in a tournament at Fenton’s Curling Rink, near Tunbridge Wells .

Five teams took part and the students, Emily (Year 12), Eva (Year 12), Daisy (Year 9) and Eleanor (Year 8) came third, after winning two and losing two matches. One of their losses was very close run, by just one point against an all boys’ team from Judd.
