In the first major school swimming competition of the academic year Walthamstow Hall came away with gold, silver and bronze across many of the categories. Our swimmers were up against a highly competitive field at the Kent Secondary Schools’ Relay Swimming Championships on Saturday. The teams were as follows:

Seniors (Years 11-13) Fern, Ruth, Lilia, Gabriela and Maisie
Intermediates (Years 9 & 10) Imogen, Emily, Sophia and Sophie
Juniors (Years 7 & 8) Sophie, Amelia, Florence and Millie

The results:

Seniors1st in the Freestyle Relay to become Kent County Champions and 2nd in the Medley Relay

Intermediates3rd in both Freestyle and Medley Relay

Juniors7th in the Freestyle Relay and 5th in the Medley Relay

Head Swimming Coach at Walthamstow Hall Mr Smith was delighted with his squad: “Congratulations to all our swimmers on a superb performance, especially considering many participants were competing at the lower end of their age category. For many of the Juniors, this was their first major senior school swimming competition, so well done Team Wally.”

The times posted on Saturday should put Walthamstow Hall in a strong position for qualification into some of the events at the English Schools’ Finals. This year the Finals will be held at The Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham, which was purpose-built to host aquatics at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

A big thank you to all the parents who came to support and cheer on the teams.
