Well done Louisa in Year 6, who is this year’s winner of the Mulberry Challenge Trophy for poetry and prose reading.

After auditions, pupils from Years 3-6 voted for which of their peers should go through to the finals, which were judged by former Wally Governor and English teacher Mrs Evernden and the Senior School’s Head of English, Miss Mehaffey.

There was a lively selection of pieces from a range of authors, including: J K Rowling, Julian Clary and David Walliams.

Miss Mehaffey said they were looking for people who could speak with confidence, clarity and who could engage with their audience. She said Louisa’s performance was consistently good on both prose (Roald Dahl’s Matilda) and poetry (Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood) and she conveyed her enjoyment to the audience.
