The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust invites high scorers in its problem-solving challenges to take part in a further round of tests.
This year, Sophia and Florence in Year 8 had the accolade of being invited to take the Junior Kangaroo Maths competition, along with just five thousand others from across the country.
Florence, pictured, has shone even within this group, correctly answering 22 out of 25 very demanding questions. Head of Maths Mr Dakin describes her performance as “stunning” and points out this puts Florence in the top 10% – or top 500 – of entrants.
