Congratulations to our team of Year 12 Business Students who – for the first time of Wally entering – came second in a national business and accounting competition.

BASE is run by the Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

We fielded three teams from our Enterprise Club, joining more than 5000 students from 550 different schools taking part this year.

As part of the competition, students were given a ‘Business Scenario’ and prepared a presentation outlining which of three solutions they would recommend and why.

In the online final, they were set seven questions on areas such as Adaptability, Commercial Awareness and Leadership.

After a presentation from guest speaker, Jo Drinkwater of Grant McKnight, the students answered the questions and then took part in a Q&A while the judges deliberated on the scores. Perhaps it’s worth noting that the winning team was also from a girls-only school (The Henrietta Barnett School).

The competition was a fabulous opportunity to develop teamwork, communication and entrepreneurial skills.  Congratulations to Amelia, Cara, Isobel and Katherine who have each won a free iPad and a half day of employability training.
