Week Two of National Citizen Service is about students engaging with a Social Action Project.

Year 11 have to formulate ways of raising money for the charities they have chosen to support. The causes they selected include the local Hygiene Bank,  domestic abuse charities The Survivors Trust and DAVSS, the mental health charity Mind and Empathy Action.

The four groups developed business models which they presented to a panel of four staff members. They had a wide range of ideas: making and selling bracelets and cupcakes, busking and a sponsored walk.

Their peers and teachers asked them some challenging questions about their plans but they coped very well under the pressure.

The project is allowing the girls to see how social enterprise can lead to social change.
