Head of Design Mrs Evans has loved seeing Year 7’s ‘Inspirational Insect’ drawings emerging from their ‘design chrysalises’ into fully formed models over the past term. Pupils’ initial sketches have developed into magnificent mini-beasts, like this ‘Maliced Mongolian Death Beetle’ designed by Megan. Megan explains that this fearsome, man-eating creature, “makes its living by landing on the bare skin of humans and ejecting toxic venom from minute spikes on the bottom of the feet.” We have really enjoying seeing Megan’s exquisite initial sketches and final bug, but will perhaps feel safer knowing it is safely locked up in the Design Studio rather than prowling around campus looking for its next lunch!
