It was fascinating to hear Walthamstow Hall Old Girl Professor Beverley Hunt OBE discussing treatments for Covid-19 on Radio 4’s Inside Health last night.

Beverley is a specialist in thrombosis and in her long clinical career says she has “never seen such sticky blood in a group of patients before”.

Treatment trials are therefore focusing on anti-inflammatory drugs, and if the benefit of giving patients big doses outweighs the risk of increased bleeding rates.

An interview with Beverley on R4’s Today Programme earlier this year, in which she described the disease as “medieval”, is referenced in playwright David Hare’s work “Beat The Devil“, currently showing at The Bridge Theatre, starring Ralph Fiennes.
