You will be pleased to hear that our Duke of Edinburgh expeditions programme resumed undaunted, the minute lock down was eased. All trips were Covid-secure, with students sleeping in one-person tents and wearing face masks where necessary.

Congratulations to Mabel and Eleanor who passed their Gold Paddle Expedition programme in the Norfolk Broads on 22-26 August with the Tonbridge Gold Charity, narrowly avoiding Storm Frances by getting on the water at 0545 and off it before it struck.

Straight after that team “Thomas The Tank Engine”, comprising Eleanor, Roseanna, Liliane, Emma, Alice and Florence completed their Silver practice expedition in the Medway Valley.  They are now ready for the assessment in October. While team TTTE ate their lunch on Day Two at East Farleigh Lock on the Medway, they spotted Wally maths teacher Mrs Durrant, passing through on a boat!

A group of Year 9s had a non-residential Bronze training weekend in June and Year 10s had a Silver training day in July.

The School’s DofE Manager Mr Ramsden said “All our Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 DofE girls have been active since March, with volunteering, skills and keeping fit, which has been wonderful to see.”
