Walthamstow Hall Old Girl Professor Beverley Hunt, OBE discussed the impact of blood clotting in severe cases of the COVID-19 on Radio 4’s Today Programme this morning. Beverley, who is a Professor of Thrombosis, described how the blood of some Coronavirus patients was “very sticky” and “not like anything seen before”. Sticky blood increases issues relating to blood clotting. Beverley described COVID-19 as “a very different disease” the complexities of which are not yet fully understood and concluded that, “it is absolutely key that we get more research going to fully understand what’s going on”. Beverley’s interview is available in full on BBC Sounds (7.45am Today Programme 2nd May).

Our unending gratitude to all of our old girls and parents working in the NHS and in other key worker roles.
