As part of their Q ‘Study Skills’ curriculum this term, Year 7 are working on their listening and speaking skills.

Students welcome a teacher into the Dining Hall, offer them a cup of tea and then hold a conversation – not related to their school work – and see where it leads them.

It sounds so simple, but conducting a conversation with an adult (that isn’t about homework or a messy bedroom) is such an important skill, it’s worth some practice.

Last term’s Q was on research and IT skills. The Head of Key Stage 3, Mrs Hofmann says the results have been ‘transformative’, with students more able to take the initiative when they need to contact staff.
