We start the Spring Term with sporting success – our swimmers have retained the trophy as Best Girls School Team in Kent.

16 swimmers represented the School in all three age groups at the Kent Secondary Schools Swimming Championships on Saturday 11th January at Hartsdown Pool in Margate.

Those representing the school were: Fern, Caitlin, Maisie, Gabriela, Alice, Iris, Eva, Emilia, Charlotte, Rosie, Eleanor, Imogen, Millie, Jasmine, Edith and Lilie.

All of the students produced excellent times and performed outstandingly on the day to help the School to its emphatic win. Out of 15 events Walthamstow Hall achieved eight gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals, resulting in the following scores for the top three schools:

2 Sevenoaks School 30
3 Rainham Mark Grammar 27

Gold – 100m butterfly
Fern 4th – 100m backstroke
5th – 200m individual medley

 

Intermediates
Emilia Gold – 100m freestyle
Bronze – 100m butterfly
Imogen Gold – 100m breastroke
6th – 200m individual medley

 

Seniors
Lilie Gold – 100m freestyle
Gold – 100m butterfly
Millie Gold – 100m backstroke
Gold – 200m individual medley
Jasmine Silver – 100m backstroke
Bronze – 100m breastroke
Edith 4th – 100m freestyle
4th – 100m butterfly

 

Walthamstow Hall Head Swimming Coach Mr Richard Smith said he was delighted with the swimmers’ efforts. “This was an exceptionally good performance by all the girls who competed for the School, overall we achieved a substantial 73 points on the day”.
