The Year 1 and 2 Christmas production was a joyful affair, telling the Nativity story through the eyes of a young shepherd boy.
The show opened with a rousing number sung by the entire cast: Tell the Christmas Story, and the girls made sure their line “With our voices soaring to the sky” held true for all of the songs they performed in the show.
There were some beautiful solos, notably from Cici playing the Shepherd Boy, Chloe, Coco and Lettie as Father, Jacob and Joshua, Valerie as the Angel Gabriel, and Nell as Mary.
The energy of the group numbers contrasted with the gentle simplicity of the quieter Little Lamb.
The production was enhanced by accompaniments from girls on various instruments: Alexa on the harp, Matilda accompanying a stately procession of Kings on her recorder, and Valerie, Evie and Lettie on the glockenspiel.
It ended, as all Nativity plays must, with Away in a Manger, a lovely ending and perhaps the real start of the Christmas season for the audience.
Thank you to all the parents and many staff whose efforts helped make this such a successful production.
