Fabulous author Caroline Lawrence came to Wally this week, giving our Year 7 and 8s an afternoon of inspiration and excitement.

Caroline is best known for her 17-book Roman Mysteries series of historical children’s novels. She gave a fun talk on how she gets her ideas and the craft of writing itself, including her seven points on how to write a great story.

It was a truly cross-curricular afternoon of learning, incorporating¬†English, history and Classics. The author’s tales of Pompeii whetted the appetite of those heading to Rome over half term on the School trip.

We are happy to report it’s a two-way relationship; one Year 7 student is now proofreading Caroline’s latest book, checking that the language used by the child characters is authentic.
