Tremendous news from our U11 Netball Squad.

The girls went to Kent College, Pembury yesterday for the Regional IAPS Netball Tournament, with the dream of qualifying for Nationals. The girls had a very tough game to start against Holmewood House losing 6-9 but showing great promise for future matches.

Their second match was against Sevenoaks Prep where they secured a 7-5 win after a very tense 14 minutes. The third game was against Caterham where the girls really piled on the pressure to win 10-4! The girls finished the group stages with a match against Bromley High, which they needed to win to be in with a chance for Nationals and they did not disappoint, winning an impressive 7-3.

This saw them finish second in their group and through to the Quarter Finals where they played Hazelwood in an extremely close game. Wally girls fought hard for every ball to see them win 5-4 and get through to the Semi-Finals to play Granville. Enthusiasm and team spirit were high but the girls had a very tough match on their hands with Granville pulling away in the second half to win 8-5. This saw Wally girls into the third/fourth place play-off for the final spot at National Finals against Colfe’s School.

This match was incredibly tense which saw Mrs Vickers, Mrs Norris and all the parents on the edge of their seats throughout. The score at full-time was 3-3 which took the game to extra time; the girls had 5 minutes to up their game and secure the win.

With true grit and determination the girls dug deep and pulled out the best five minutes of netball of the day, scoring goal after goal and turning over so many balls to earn their place in the National Finals with an 8-5 win. Each and every girl in the Squad was a crucial part of the team’s success and have made us all very proud!

A special thank you goes to all the parents for their integral support throughout the day and to Aurora and Emma who flew back from Austria with their Dads especially for the tournament, what incredible dedication!

We are all thrilled to be through to National Finals on Thursday 21st March and can’t wait to get back on court!

Our National Finalists are: Hattie – Captain, Jemima – Vice-Captain, Aurora, Emma, Charlotte, Grace, Savannah, Isy, Caitlin and Maggie.
