The Junior School is set in its own attractive grounds in the heart of Sevenoaks. It was originally built as a residential property in 1903, and has many interesting architectural features.
The school uniform is popular and has a recognisable cherry-red blazer. The uniform is available from Horncastles, the school outfitters in Sevenoaks. There is also a school shop run by parents at the school, where many good quality second-hand items may be purchased.

The extension and refurbishment of the nursery classrooms means lots more space for our youngest members of the school community. 'Little Shipmates' at Walthamstow Hall is a welcoming environment with plenty to learn and lots of toys to play with. The 'Bakery Shop' is a favourite! Girls enjoyed teddy bear biscuits on the opening day. They were joined by Year 6 girls who remembered their own days in nursery and who are now preparing for Senior School.

Our new ICT room is an excellent resource for classroom teaching and girls' individual project work. Recently, girls in Year 5 researched 'Echolocation' as part of their Science work on sound waves. They enjoyed preparing Power Point presentations to display their research.
Our new science laboratory was opened last September by Professor Berry, an eminent scientist. There are custom-built science benches equipped with gas and electricity supplies for plenty of practical work. Data cabling allows the students to network their research findings, with a variety of ICT programmes available. There is an interactive whiteboard, additional ceiling- hung projection screen and a separate preparation room.
The new library has been well-received by all the girls and 'Book Club' is a popular activity in lunch break. It was opened in 2005 by author, Gwyneth Rees, famous for her 'fairy' stories. Girls in Nursery dressed up as fairies for the opening day and Gwyneth ran creative workshops for the older girls.

Music classes are popular and many girls learn to play a wide choice of musical instruments. Musical teas give girls a chance to perform individually, in front of parents each term. Specialist music facilities are housed in a dedicated Music Department within the grounds.
Girls enjoy the outdoor play equipment when weather allows. There is a new Wendy House and Play Boat which are very popular.
The multi-activity play equipment.
Pop Lacrosse is enjoyed by Year 5 and 6 in preparation for taking up senior lacrosse at Senior School. Walthamstow Hall has an excellent track record for sport.
A wide choice of sport gives everyone a chance to participate in physical activity. Netball, swimming, tennis, football, pop lacrosse, gym and athletics are enjoyed to a high standard. Table tennis, skiing, modern dance and ballet are also enjoyed during club activity time.

There is plenty of drama offered to girls with major productions performed each term by different year groups. All the girls benefit from the added confidence and experience of performing to parents.
In addition, there are after school clubs in drama, dance and singing.

'Shipmates' drama club takes place in The Ship Theatre at the Senior School and is a popular choice for the older girls. It is run by our Head of Drama.
There are lots of super club activities for girls, from Years 1 to 6. One of these is the gardening club which is very popular in the summer term. Last summer the girls enjoyed their own home-grown tomatoes!
Cookery club is another popular activity with delicious smells wafting into the playground at the end of the day!
We have our own chefs who devise and cook the children's meals freshly each day. Plenty of vegetables, fruit and salad are offered to the girls. Vegetarians and special menus are also catered for.
