House Report
Summer Term 2010
Eleanor Mankiewitz, House Captain Montreal and Caroline Sheldon, House Captain Chartwell
There have been a whole range of House activities taking place in school as usual this term.
On the 17th June, the Lower Fourth (Year 8s) worked on their letters to the new Third Formers (Year 7s) who will be joining us in September. This is the third year that the Lower Fourth have written to the new pupils, and all of the letters are now typed in the House colours with many including photos of House events.
We have had a very eventful time lately in respect to House Events, with House Tennis and Rounders on Thursday 1st July, House Swimming on Friday 2nd July, and House Athletics on Monday 5th July.
The House Tennis and Rounders were played from 12.30pm on Thursday 1st July. It was a blazing hot day, and competitors and spectators should be congratulated for surviving the heat!
In the Junior Rounders finals, in a closely fought match, Penshurst beat Chartwell with 7 rounders to 6 ½, and in the Senior Rounders finals, Quebec beat Penshurst with 7 rounders to 3 ½ rounders. In the Junior Tennis final, Penshurst beat Knole with 15 points to 2 points, and in the Senior Tennis Final, Penshurst beat Quebec with 11 points to 6 points.
The House Swimming was held in the afternoon of Friday 2nd July. Many members of the Houses got involved, and this year medals were awarded to the swimmers who finished in first place. Down and Knole tied in first place with 159 points, Chartwell were third with 144 points, Montreal were forth with 130 points with Quebec and Penshurst coming fifth and sixth with 113 and 92 points respectively.
The House Athletics was held on 5thJuly and the weather was gorgeous. Girls fought hard to compete for their Houses and First was Chartwell with 202 points, 2nd was Quebec with 172 points, 3rd was Down with 171 points, 4th was Knole with 154 points, 5th was Montreal with 151 points and 6th was Penshurst with 128 points.
Many thanks must go to all the staff who came out and helped with running the sports events, scoring, marshalling and just generally supporting their Houses – the tournaments could not have happened without you.
As usual, girls have been working hard to collect individual House Points, and this year, 11,974 house points were collected overall. Of these 7664 House Points were collected by individuals.
