Judo and Netball Results January 2010

After the impressive 24 - 6 and 24 - 2 wins on the netball picth at Combe Bank last week our Judo and Lacrosse teams had a lot to live up to at their fixtures this weekend. Neither disappointed.

Judo Results
At the Judo Congress held at High Wycombe there was an excellent turn out and some very tough competition, including some international players. Our nine strong team, however, put in excellent performances and brought home 8 medals and a trophy.

In the Junior Section Robyn van Houwelingen took Bronze and Sophie Rimmel took the gold in their class. Rhoanne Flanagan took the silver in her group as did Daniela Cullum. India Prescott took silver and Sophia Earnshaw-Punnett took the gold in their class.

In the Senior Section, Bryony Dunn took gold in her group and Stephanie Difford took silver in hers.

Overall we won the trophy for the Highest Scoring School. Many congratulations to all of our competitors.

Lacrosse Results
Also on Saturday, the 1st and 2nd Lacrosse teams played Kings at home and despite a spirited performance by both teams, the 1sts just lost 5-6 and the 2nds drew 3-3.

The U14 and U15 teams also played Kings, this time away at Canterbury, both playing very well in what were their first matches of the year. The U14s enjoyed a fast paced game in which they created many scoring opportunities - they won easily 10 - 0. The Kings U15s gave our U15s a tough game and pushed them to defend their goal with tenacity and determination. The teams traded goals in a tense second half but our U15s held their nerve and kept themselves in front to win 11-9.

A special mention also for our U13 Lacrosse teams, two of whom travelled to Vinehall to play in the Kent Indoor Tournament. This was their first experience of indoor lacrosse and both teams played very well. Team 1 scored some convincing wins to come 2nd in their section and reach the semi-finals where they played Dulwich Prep 1. Unfortunately, they just lost this match but all players enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to next year's tournament.

Well done to all players who have represented the school in lacrosse over the last week.
