Swimming Report

Spring Term 2008

We have had an excellent series of wins in swimming this term with plenty of fixtures in our new 25m swimming pool. One of the highlights of the term so far has been hosting the preliminary round of the IAPS National Swimming Championships on Friday 1st February.

Teams of swimmers - both girls and boys - from eight IAPs schools took part. The participating schools were Bodiam Manor, Derwent Lodge, The Granville, Hilden Grange, Holmewood House, Kent College and The New Beacon.

All the swimmers excelled and many swam their personal best times. We await the results from the organisers.

Autumn Term 2007
Swimathon

We welcomed Combe Bank to our new pool for a swimming match on Tuesday 27th November. Everyone swam well and the results were excellent for us.

In the Under 9s we won the backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke races. We won the freestyle relay and were 1st and 2nd in the medley relay. The final score was WH 49 – CB 31.

In the Under 10 races we also did very well and the final score was WH 48 – CB 32.

In the Under 11s we came 1st and 2nd in the backstroke and 1st in breaststroke. The medley relay team was 1st and we also won the squad relay. The final points were WH 41 – CB 39.

The total score was WH 146 – CB 112

Thank you very much to the Mums who helped with scoring and tea and to the reserves who supported the teams so well and were ready to swim at a moment's notice.

Well done!

Yr 5 Swimming Gala

We enjoyed our first swimming gala in the new pool on 9th October 2007.

Year 5 & 6 girls swam very well against Kent College and won by 4 points overall.

In the Under 10s our girls won the 25m butterfly race, 25m freestyle and freestyle relays.

In the Under 11s the girls won the 25m backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events and both freestyle relays as well.

In the U10s the final score was WH 77 points, KC 83 points. In the U11s the final score was KC 75 points, WH 85 points. This means we won overall by 162 to 158 points. What a great way to start in the new pool!

Summer Term 2007

Swimmers succeed at IAPS and Kent Schools' qualifying rounds ....

Our year 6 swimmers worked hard on perfecting their techniques and speeds during the summer term. They participated in the IAPS National Schools' tournament and Kent Schools' Championships.

One of our swimmers qualified for the U11 50m breaststroke at both Finals which is a tremendous achievement considering the numbers of children and schools taking part.
