Autumn Term 2007
The House Netball tournament took place on 29th November, with Years 5 & 6 representing their houses: Farjeon, Streatfeild, Norton and Garnett.
The games were of a high standard with the ball flowing from end to end. The final round decided the winners.
Both Streatfeild and Norton had won their previous games. They tied the last game 6 - 6 and therefore were level on points. The winners were Streatfeild on goal difference having scored a total of 24 goals during the tournament and 9 against. Norton were 2nd with a goal difference of 6, with Farjeon being placed 3rd and Garnett 4th.
Our Under 10 and 11 girls had a really successful first tournament of the season at Sevenoaks Prep School on Monday 17th September.
They Won all these matches:
U11A Won 3 - 1
U11B Won 4 - 0
U10 Won 1 - 0
U11A Won 1 - 0
Well done girls!
The U11 A game against Russell House recently was very impressive too. The girls practised their drills really well and the defence battled hard against a confident goal attack, making shooting as difficult as possible. The opposition's tall defence caused some problems for the shooters who were unlucky with a few shots.
The U11 B team won their game 6 - 3 and were always in control. The attacking players passed the ball into the shooting zone with great skill providing many opportunities to score.
IAPS Netball Tournament - March 2007
Our U11 Netball Squad performed extremely well at the IAPS Netball Tournament at Roedean in March 2007. There were 54 schools competing and our team won a place in the final.
They came second in their league with 32 points. They won 5 games, drew 2 and lost l. The League winners and second place teams then went into a sudden death play off. It was a very closely contested game which WHJS won 3-2 with the winning goal being scored seconds before the final whistle. A triangular round was played with teams having to win both their games to guarantee a place in the national finals. WHJS again made it through this round and subsequently booked their place. Walthamstow Hall Junior School's netball teacher, Mrs Barber said: "I was really pleased with the way the team played controlled netball in such difficult conditions. Marking was tight and enforced errors kept to a minimum. Thanks also go to the parents for braving the elements and supporting the girls."
