6th leave 9.30am, return 8th October Sport type Netball Years 8 & 9 vs Condover Hall Tournament (A) Results

Year 8 and 9 A teams won the tournament

Over the weekend 49 Year 8 and 9 netballers invaded Condover Hall for a weekend of netball and adventurous activities.
Saturday morning saw the year 8s take to the court playing school teams and some club teams from around the country. The A team finished top of the division on Saturday having played some amazing netball against some very strong club sides. The B team finished mid table with the C team sitting at the bottom.
In the afternoon, the Year 9s took to the court. All 3 teams played some excellent netball and at the end of the day the As sat proudly on the top with the Bs in 2nd place, followed by the Cs in 7th place.
Sunday saw the last few rounds of matches for the final placings. Both A teams won all of their matches, finishing the tournament winners for their age groups.
The Year 8 A team scored 91 goals and conceded 22, and the Year 9 A team scored 90 with 23 against. Great shooting and fantastic defence.
Congratulations to all of the girls for a weekend of fantastic netball.

7th leave 9.45am, return 1pm Sport type Lacrosse U19 vs Caterham School (A) Results

WH lost 16:5

Caterham came out strong and fast at the beginning of the game, securing an early lead with a few quick goals. However, our U19s fought back hard in the second quarter, displaying excellent stick-work and movement down the pitch, as well as determination and organisation in defence. Due to some beautiful attacking play we scored a number of impressive goals, narrowing the score to 7 – 4 at half time to Caterham. In the second half the Wally team were feeling the effect of having very few subs in an intense and fast-paced game, and Caterham came back much stronger, overall dominating possession of the ball. Nevertheless, Wally worked very hard to frustrate many of Caterham’s attacks on goal, helped by some spectacular saves from Poppy, but we were unfortunately not able to convert turnovers of possession into many goals of our own.

7th leave 9.45am, return 1pm Sport type Lacrosse U15 vs Caterham School (H) Results

WH lost 11:9

Through illness and injury, the U15s were down to 12 players for their trip to Caterham, meaning they had no substitutes for the whole 40 minute match. Despite this, they fought resolutely, and showed some individual brilliance in attack, and strong defensive play. Unfortunately for Wally, Caterham did have substitutes, and this became apparent the longer the game went on as they were able to bring on fresh players to do much of the leg work. While the final score may not have been in Wally’s favour, the girls should hold their heads high knowing that they restricted Caterham, despite having a depleted squad.

14th leaving 11.30am, return 5pm Sport type Lacrosse U19 vs King's School & Benenden (A) Results

WH won v King's 14-0, lost v Benenden 3-2

Our first match with King's, the girls worked the ball very well from the first centre, scoring some great goals and keeping majority of the ball possession throughout the game. At the final whistle the score was 14-0 to Wally.
A 5 minute break and it was time for our next match v Benenden. The game was fairly even in terms of possession, with our defence working extremely hard, making some goal saving checks. We worked the ball well up the field when we had possession, moving our opposition and getting comfortably into our fan. This was not a high scoring game, with the score 3-1 at half time to Benenden, but the girls went out in the second half and worked their socks off. We managed to score a fantastic goal - the only one of the second half - and held our own throughout the field. Some great saves from Poppy in goal, meant that the game finished with a score of 3-2 to Benenden. A fantastic match played by all of the girls, only losing by 1 to last year's national champions.
Lots of positives to take away from both matches. Very well played to everyone, a great team performance.

14th leaving School 11.30pm, return 5.00pm Sport type Lacrosse U14 & U15 vs King’s and Benenden (A) Results

WH won v King's 18-0, WH lost v Benenden 13-1

The U15s started their triangular tournament with a decisive win over a very new Kings team, with the score being 18-0 to Wally at full time.
The second game against Benenden was more evenly matched, with strong play from both teams. An early lead from Benenden meant the U15s had some catching up to do, and although we came back fighting in the second half, we didn't manage to convert possession to goals, with the final score being 13-1 to Benenden.

The team rose to the challenge of extremely tall players against them at each end, but took the first half to adjust to the opposition. TWGGS won 15-1

The girls played well throughout the match, but were slightly taken aback by the speed that our opposition were playing at. Lots of positives to take from the game, and some areas to work on.
