Going back to our roots

We were delighted to welcome Old Girl Dr Lucy Ella Rose back to Wally on Thursday to deliver her Sixth Form Lecture Women's Suffrage and Education: Centennial Reflections.

Dr Rose lectures in Victorian Literature at the University of Surrey and her passion for her topic lit up the Main Hall.

Her subject area encompasses nineteenth century art, culture and feminism - things at the heart of the School's Victorian beginnings.

Dr Rose's particular research has been on women in nineteenth century creative partnerships and she has worked extensively on the Mary Watts archive at the Watts Gallery near Guildford.

Thank you for bringing this wider perspective on Victorian women back to the School, Dr Rose.  Your talk was fascinating.
