Wally Pop

5 May 2016

One of the musical highlights of the summer term, the annual Wally Pop concert, wowed an appreciative audience of parents, fellow students and teachers on Friday evening.

There were fantastic performances across the board. Particular highlights included; Emily James singing When We Were Young which was powerful and full of emotion; Alice Lupton's imaginative and expressive interpretation of Elvis Presley's Can't help falling in love for solo voice and ukulele and the Year 7 Choir's impressive rendition of History by One Direction, which the audience couldn't resist singing and clapping along to. The influence of Wallthamstow Hall's weekly song writing workshops was also very much in evidence with musicians, such as Zoe Higgs, performing their own accomplished compositions.

One of Wally Pop's biggest fans (Mr Howson) described many of the covers as being 'better than the original songs' and a Year 7 parent spoke for all when she summed up the evening;

"Wally Pop on Friday evening was a fantastic showcase for the talent at school, both in choral groups and individuals. It must have taken lots of planning and rehearsal but it was obvious that the performers loved every minute of it. We really enjoyed the evening too!'
