U19s bring home first trophy of the season

11 September 2011

The new lacrosse season has got off to a promising start for Walthamstow Hall players from across the school.

U13 v Dulwich Prep
On Saturday the U13 lacrosse team played against Dulwich Prep in Cranbrook. In some very warm conditions, the U13s put up a really good fight against a strong Dulwich team and managed to slow down their attacking play as the match progressed. The final score of 8-0 does not really reflect how hard the team worked. They also played Dulwich's U12 team and raised their game significantly to draw the match 2-2. Special thanks go to Natasha, Issy and Hannah for playing in goal in what were very busy matches for all of them.

U15 and U19 at Berkhamsted 8-a-side
On Sunday, our U15 and U19 teams played in the Berkhamsted 8-a-side tournament. Both teams played some excellent lacrosse and scored some great wins over strong opposition. The U15s only lost 1 match in their morning games which put them into section 2 for the afternoon matches. They won against Berkhamsted, drew against St Swithuns and lost by only 1 goal to St Helens and to Stowe to come 3rd in the section. St Swithuns and Berkhamsted went on to take 1st and 2nd place in the section so the U15s should be proud of their performances against these teams.

The U19s played some tough opponents in their morning matches but were well into their stride for their afternoon games, where they won two matches, drew one and lost one. This gave them enough points to take first place and win their section. A fantastic start to the season for both teams and well done to all our players who represented the school this weekend.

The 1st  and 2nd U15 and U14 lacrosse teams will be taking part in the Kent Schools Tournament on Saturday 17th September. Kent selections will be made at the end of the tournament. Good luck to all players taking part.
