U14s win Kent Schools Tournament

20 September 2011

On Saturday the U19 A and B, U15 and U14 lacrosse teams all played in the Kent Schools Tournament at Benenden. All teams played extremely well, particularly as this was their first full fixture of the season.

The U14s were playing in the tournament for the first time and played to a very high standard throughout. They sailed through their section games to meet Kings A in the semi-final. In a tense match, they squeezed out a 1-0 win to meet Benenden's U15A team in the final. They wasted no time in setting up a 3-1 lead and held onto possession well, only conceding one more goal to win the match 3-2 and take the championship. This is an amazing result for our U14 team who didn't lose a single game and were not fazed by having to play both U14 and U15 teams - they should be very proud of what was a fantastic team effort.

The U19 2nd team met some tough opposition in their section and scored some wins and losses to take 6th place in the tournament. The 1st team sailed through their section and semi-finals to meet Kings A in the final. In what was a very evenly matched context, the 1st team put up a spirited fight but the Kings team were better at converting their chances and won the final 2- 0. The 1st and 2nd teams should be very proud of their performances as they impressed spectators and selectors alike with the standard of their play.

Not surprisingly we had many girls selected to play for Kent - 20 in total, 10 to the U19 squad and 10 to the U15 team.

Congratulations to all our players who represented the school to such a high standard at the weekend.
