The Sunday Times Top 100

19 November 2013

The Sunday Times has ranked Walthamstow Hall 65th in its 'Top 100 Independent Secondary Schools' list published this weekend. The ranking denotes a rise of 33 places from the 2012 poll and puts Walthamstow Hall ahead of other local schools including Caterham, Kings Canterbury and Bromley High.

Walthamstow Hall also outperformed the more selective local grammar schools, ranked in the parallel Sunday Times 'Top 100 State Secondary Schools' list, with A level and GCSE results higher than those used to rank Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar, Tonbridge Grammar and Skinners.

Headmistress Jill Milner commented, "It is fantastic to see us holding our own against the country's biggest boarding schools and independent and state 'super selectives'. To rank 65th as a mid-sized day school with a local catchment is a real testament to the incredible added-value that our students benefit from here. After spending my last two evenings in The Ship Theatre watching the girls' electrifying performances in Guys and Dolls I can say hand on heart that our students throw themselves into their extra-curricular activities with the same levels of commitment and success as they do to their academic studies".

The top three schools in the Independent School Top 100 and seven of the top ten were all-girl schools.
