Upper Fifth Plays

22 March 2012

Upper Fifth (Year 11) Drama students gave powerful performances of In Flame and The Dining Room on the 20th and 21st March. The students' maturity and professionalism never waivered, even though actor, and former Walthamstow Hall 'Mr Darcy', Douglas Booth, was in the audience!

First performed at the Bush Theatre in 2000, In Flame, by Charlotte Jones (Humble Boy) tells the story of two groups of people, each of three women and two men, across the span of a century and in so doing examines whether the lives of women have really changed so much in that time.

The Dining Room, by American playwright A R Gurney, also interweaves stories from across the twentieth century linking vignettes of different familys' lives through the same dining room whose ownership they have shared.
