Tara's excellence rewarded

Many congratulations to Lower Sixth Tara Daly whose excellence on the hockey field has been recognised by England Hockey in her selection onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) Programme as part of the National Age Group Squad Academy.

The academy for selected Year 12 hockey athletes is led by the Performance Department at England Hockey and aims "to ensure that hockey's performance athletes of the future are supported, motivated and inspired to maximise their talent development and potential." The scheme will create a much bigger and more developed pool of talent from which to build the England hockey teams of the future.

Over 25 other sports also participate in the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme with 2,500 athletes from across the country benefitting from it each year. Ambassadors for the scheme include Rebecca Adlingston, Tom Daley and Jack Whilshere.

The apprenticeship will offer Tara a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into what it takes to become an elite athlete.

Tara sucessfully combines her elite hockey training and matches around the UK with her A level and Pre-U studies in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Spanish.
