Swimming Success

16 May 2018

Members of the Senior School Swimming Squad were back in the pool at 7.30 on Tuesday morning after two weekends of fantastic swimming representing their local swimming clubs.

First in the water, competition wise, were Emma, Jasmine and Zoë, who swam at the 15 and over Swim England South East Summer Championships at Wycombe over the Bank Holiday weekend.

In the 16 age group Emma swam in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events and finished a very creditable 12th in each one.

In the 15 age group Jasmine swam the 200m backstroke and also finished impressively in 12th place.

Zoë had a very successful competition swimming in the 15 age group for the 50m and 100m fly, the 50m backstroke, and the 50m and 100m freestyle. In the 100m freestyle, she swam a personal best and won the Bronze medal. She was quickly back in the pool for the 50m back final where she finished 8th. Zoë swam another PB in the 50m freestyle heats and went onto win a Silver medal in the finals for that event.

Also in competition over Bank Holiday was Year 9 Edith who swam at the Black Lion gala where six personal bests won her six gold medals in the 200m free, 100m free, 50m free, 100m fly, 50m fly and 100m back events.

Last weekend it was the turn of the 14 and under swimmers, Imogen, Lilie, Millie and Mimi, representing their clubs at the South East Regional Championships for their age group.

The girls added more personal bests and medals to the swimming tally. In the 100m fly Mimi swam a PB, a feat repeated in the 200m fly where she also broke her club’s record for the event and finished in 4th  place. Also swimming to strong 4th positions was Millie in the 400 freestyle and100m backstroke.

Congratulations to Lilie and Imogen who both won medals. Lilie took Bronze in the 50m freestyle and Imogen won the Silver in the 50m Breast stroke.

Very well done to all of our Senior swimmers for a terrific two weekends of swimming, we wish you all every success in your next rounds of competition.
