Super Science

Lots of interesting experiments have taken place in the Junior School Science Lab in the last week.

As part of their topic on 'Teeth and Eating, Year 3 have been learning how to brush their teeth effectively and used disclosing tablets to identify areas to concentrate on when brushing. Year 3 also tested different foods with iodine to see which contained starch.

Whilst learning about 'Keeping our Bodies Healthy' Year 5 investigated the effect of exercise on pulse rate, and the less squeamish were also able to watch a heart being dissected.

Year 6, meanwhile, have been learning about microbes and carried out an investigation into what yeast requires to respire. The carbon dioxide gas from the respiring yeast was used to blow up a balloon!
