Debate Matters

9 October 2014

Against a well prepared Maidstone Girls Grammar School pair, Elizabeth Robertson and Daniella Cullum won the first debate on the motion "Should the UK embrace fracking".  Rosemary Pijper and Richenza Clark Castillo then faced the previous champions in the final to debate the motion "Should we be willing to compromise our privacy in the interests of national and international security".  After a tough debate, Oakwood Park Grammar School emerged as winners, however, Walthamstow Hall were seen as 'passionate speakers who constructed a spirited argument'.

Our girls were supported by a team of Sixth Formers who had helped to research and support the debating pairs comprising of Lucinda Haslock, Alexandra Horncastle, India Crawley, Isabella Matthews and Bethan Daniels.  Well done to everyone.
