Shakespearian Assembly

This term, Mrs Conway takes on the exciting role of English Subject Leader at the Junior School.

On Friday, Mrs Conway led the school in an English assembly to mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death. Pupils learned that Shakespeare made up lots of English words and phrases that we still use today, for example “catastrophe” and “vanished into thin air”.

Shakespeare used this language in his many plays and sonnets and the girls enjoyed acting out some of these, before considering how they could use interesting vocabulary in their own writing.
