Mrs Diane Wood


Diane Wood will become Head of Walthamstow Hall Junior School in September 2013.  Diane was educated at Manchester High School for Girls and the University of Durham, where she read Psychology followed by a PGCE in primary education.  She also has a Certificate in Education from Oxford Brookes University.

Diane started her career in maintained schools in Hampshire and Buckinghamshire. From there she moved to the independent sector, spending more than a decade working for the Girls’ Day School Trust, first at Sheffield High School for Girls and latterly as Senior Teacher at Sydenham High School in London. During this time she gained experience teaching a wide range of different year groups and leading in a number of curriculum areas, including English and Science, and she has also been a Teacher Governor.

Re-locating to Kent with her husband and daughters, for the last three years Diane has been Deputy Head of Spring Grove nursery and preparatory school in Wye, taking particular responsibility for embedding best practice and developing relationships with parents.  Outside work,Diane enjoys playing and listening to music and spending time with her young family.  Diane’s two youngest daughters will also be joining the school and all three are very much looking forward to becoming part of the Walthamstow Hall community.
