A Midsummer Concert programme ranging from Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks to David Guetta's Titanium, with pieces by Gauthreaux, Haydn, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Caldara and others in between, set the perfect  tone for Lower School Prize-Giving on Tuesday evening.

The Midsummer Concert, in The Ship theatre, included performances from the Orchestra, Vivaldi Strings, Downton Trio, Advanced Ensemble, Flute Choir, Early Music Group and Choir as well as solos on the snare drum, oboe and flute.

The celebratory mood continued at the drinks reception for parents and Lower School Prize-Giving ceremony where guest of honour Mrs Maxine Shaw, Head of Hazelwood School, delivered a witty and motivating speech which cleverly used a Candy Crush metaphor to bring wise words about committment and aspiration to life for the Year 7, 8 and 9 students.
