Maths Whizzes

Eight speedy mathematicians from Year 4 and Year 5 competed in the frenetic annual Great Maths Race at the Senior School yesterday.

Each team of four competed against teams from other schools, solving mathematical conundrums under intense time pressure before racing around the main hall for their answer, and if correct, their next question.

Speaking at the end of the race, Deputy Head and Maths teacher, Mr Hughes, commented on how this had been one of the highest scoring Great Maths Races to date and commended all of the budding mathematicians on their performances.

The Year 4 Race was won by Anthony Roper School and Sevenoaks County Primary won the Year 5 race, with the first 100% final score line in 13 years of race history!

Well done to the winners and to the Walthamstow Hall Junior School Year 4s, who finished in joint 4th place, and the Year 5s who finished in joint 5th place.
