Knole Run Record Broken

5 December 2013

Many congratulations to our cross country runners on their excellent performances in the Junior Knole Run organised by Sevenoaks School last Friday. 249 girls from 34 schools competed over the challenging new one and a half mile course.

Year 8 Kathleen Faes won the individual girls' race in a new course record of 9 minutes and 32 seconds. Kathleen adds the Knole win to the 800m, 1,200m and Pentathlon Kent Champion titles which she gained in August and September.

Hot on Kathleen's heels in the Knole Run were fellow Year 8 Evie Butler who finished in 4th place and Year 7s Molly Goldsworthy (38th), Emilia Donovan (40th) and Vita Milana (42nd). All of our 12 runners finished the course.

The team event was won by Tunbridge Wells Girls' Grammar with 81 points. City of London Freeman's School and Walthamstow Hall were both in touching distance of the title each scoring 83 points. 2nd and 3rd places were determined in accordance with the rule that in the event of a tie the team with the highest placed 4th team member takes precedence which made the final team positions 1st: TWGGS (81 points), 2nd City of London Freeman's (83 points) and 3rd Walthamstow Hall (83 points).

These are the best results we have achieved in the Knole Run. The excellent performances from all of our runners and the surprize appearance of David Beckham made it a very exciting afternoon all round!
