Judo, Gymnastics & Swim Wins

2 February 2016

Walthamstow Hall sportswomen won medals at the High Wycombe Judo Congress, Kent Acro Championships and Kent County Swimming Championships this weekend.

At the High Wycombe Judo Congress on Saturday the Walthamstow Hall team fought extremely well against strong and more experienced opposition. Our Year 9 students, who only started Judo last October, did exceptionally well to each bring home a medal. The girls competed in different weight categories; Beth Hook won bronze; Anja Huddart and Poppy Holmes won silver and Sophie Lee-Amies and Jessica Richards won gold.

At the Kent Acro Championships on Sunday, Holly Haworth and Jade Sobrany took silver in the Women's trio Grade 5 'Balance and Dynamic' class. Annabel Jackson won gold in the Grade 4 Women's pair class, and is now County Champion.

Whilst not a school team event Walthamstow Hall swimmers were well represented at the Kent County Swimming Championships at the weekend, with several competing. Junior School pupil Elspeth Watson won two golds, in the 100 and 200 m freestyle and Year 8 Zoe Naylor-Perrott won the 100m backstroke gold medal with an impressive new personal best time of 1.10.43.

Very well done to all of our students who competed this weekend.
