IAPS National Swimming Finals 2012

K2, Crawley

19th May 2012

Our Year 5 Swimmers comprising Bethany Hook, Georgia Bowers, Sarah Williams and Yulia Travina all swam in the IAPS National Swimming Finals at K2, Crawley on Saturday 19th May.

The girls were part of the U10 Medley relay team (Bethany – Backstroke, Georgia – Breaststroke, Sarah – Fly and Yulia – Frontcrawl) and achieved 6th place in the Final in a time of 1.14.58.  This was just short of an 8 second personal best time for them as their qualifying time for the event had been 1.22.13!  To put the result in context here is an extract from the Promoter’s Foreword to the competition:

“There were 209 schools in the regional rounds which were held at 33 different locations from January to March.”

“We had over 2,500 swimmers compete in the individual events.  Along with the additional relay swimmers the total would be above 3,000.  The swimmers you see here today are amongst the top 16 of that impressive number.”

We are extremely proud of their fantastic achievement and wish to congratulate them on their dedication and commitment to training in the last few weeks and months which has really paid off.

We must also congratulate Yulia Travina on being a reserve finalist for the U10 25m Freestyle event.  just narrowly missing out on making the final.

Well done to our Swimmers and Congratulations on your performances!
