Geography Awareness Week

22 June 2012

Many thanks to Miss Burtenshaw and the Geography Department for engaging the whole school in Geography through Geography Awareness Week last week.

The programme kicked off with an Upper Fourth Field trip in the most literal sense as the students studied farming for the day. Back at WH base girls from all year groups competed in the first ever Inter-House Geography Quiz in The Ship, congratulations to Down House who came first and runners up Quebec and Penshurst.

On Thursday 'ambassadors' from the Royal Geographic Society visited the Lower Fourth as well as geographers from the Lower Fifth and Lower Sixth and on Friday the whole school were treated to a geographically themed Olympic assembly delivered by IIIB before sampling ingenious flag and map shaped biscuits at a Geography cake sale in aid of Sport Relief projects. The week rounded off with Lower Sixth geographers embarking on their field trip to the Yorkshire Wolds.
