GCSE Drama, 'The Cripple of Inishmaan'.

25 March 2014

The 'Cripple of Inishmaan' is a black comedy set off the west coast of Ireland in 1934 and tells the tale of a young, disabled boy with hopes of making it big in Hollywood.  Read the following review by a Year 11 student:

"I didn’t think it was possible to see a play that combined “egg-pegging”, “shark-bisecting” and a plethora of peas, but 2014’s GCSE play proved me wrong. From angry lasses to deranged old women the barren Irish setting of Inishmaan was home to every type of character imaginable – all of whom were bedecked in an astonishingly attractive combination of earthy-coloured woollen numbers.

The 'Cripple of Inishmaan' was a laugh-out-loud tear jerker, with a set convincing enough to make you feel you were in post-war Ireland, and a cast mesmerising enough to captivate you from start to finish. A spectacular success for all involved."
