First Class Old Girl

13 November 2017

Some inspiring news from Old Girl, Jenny Wheeler, who has not only graduated with First Class Honours from Warwick University this year but also received an Outstanding Student Contribution Award.

Jenny studied Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry and was also very active in the Students' Union and in the University of Warwick Wind Orchestra during her five years there.

She was elected Disabled Students' Officer at the Students' Union for three years running and at the award-giving ceremony she was told her campaigns "undoubtedly improved accessibility and awareness of issues surrounded with living with a disability".

As a Warwick Music Scholar, she played in a variety of ensembles, was principal flautist for the wind orchestra, and was its longest-serving student conductor.

We would like to join in congratulating Jenny on her outstanding academic achievements and also - to quote the university award-giving oration - her "tremendous enthusiasm to help others".
