Farewell Mrs Milner

18 December 2017

Wally Hall bid an emotional farewell to Mrs Milner on the last day of term.

Morning Prayers included the singing of carols and Mrs Milner presenting the School with a beautiful silver cup for House Music, Mrs Milner's favourite House competition.

The traditional final assembly of term for the presentation of reports from clubs and societies was ambushed and instead filled with memories from pupils from Year 7 - 13, Head Girls from throughout Mrs Milner's 15 year Headship also attended or sent video messages. The assembly ended with a filmed tribute including every pupil, teacher and member of staff at the school before the choir sang 'The Lord Bless you and Keep You', to Mrs Milner as she left the Hall.

Addressing pupils and colleagues Mrs Milner spoke of the great privilege it had been to be their Headmistress and of the 'Wally Magic' which they create.

After bidding farewell to each and every student as they left the Hub, there was some brief respite before Mrs Milner attended a 'School Disco' in the evening organised by staff and featuring more surprise appearances from family and former colleagues.

We all send Mrs Milner every good wish for a happy and long retirement.

In January, Walthamstow Hall welcomes Miss Stephanie Ferro as Headmistress. Like Mrs Milner, and indeed Mrs Lang before her, Miss Ferro is an alumna of St Anne's College, Oxford University, and brings 25 years of experience to her new role, having taught and led pastoral and academic teams at a number of prestigious girls' schools including Wimbledon High (Deputy Head, Pastoral), Lady Eleanor Holles (Senior Assistant Headmistress) and Redland High School (Headmistress).
