English Pre-U taken to Wuthering Heights
09/11/2011
In preparation for the 'Personal Investigation' element of their English Pre-U course, Sixth Form students have visited Haworth, in West Yorkshire, the home of the Bronte family. The trip was designed to enhance the students' sense of place and understanding of Wuthering Heights and thus the context of the novel.
The first day of the trip was organised by the Parsonage Museum and included; an introductory talk, guided walk of Haworth, investigation of Bronte treasures, exploration at the museum and a lecture on 'Interpretations of Wuthering Heights'. The day was perfectly rounded off with a meal cooked at the Youth Hostel by the students.
There was further study on the morning of Day Two, followed by a walk on the moor to Top Withins.
On the final day the students visited the model village of Saltaire to gain further context for Wuthering Heights.
