Duke of Edinburgh Successes

1 October 2012

41 Walthamstow Hall students received their Duke of Edinburgh Awards in September, including Gold Award winners Catherine Chisholm and Alice Somerset. At the Sevenoaks Duke of Edinburgh Award Ceremony, Alice, who has just returned from a gap year trip to Peru, gave a closing speech in which she encouraged other Award winners to continue to participate right up to Gold level. Alice will soon be following in Catherine's footsteps and travelling to Buckingham Palace to receive her Gold Award.

Whilst final awards were being collected the next generation of WH Duke of Edinburgh participants were setting out on their Bronze Award expeditions in Swattenden. Their D of E Expedition assessor described them as 'outstanding for so many reasons' and, in a letter to Mrs Milner, went on to describe their teamwork, sense of purpose and solidarity, 'superb' navigation skills, enthusiasm and determination, awareness and willingness to learn.

We wish all of our students doing Duke of Edinburgh the very best of luck as they complete their Awards this year.
