Ahoy!

16 October 2017

Wally's Chamber Choir helped raise the rafters at The New Beacon on Friday, in a Combined Choirs' concert to raise money for The Hospice in the Weald.

Girls joined choirs from The Hospice in the Weald, Leigh Primary School, King's Rochester and The New Beacon, to perform "Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose", which was conducted by the composer of the piece, the very energetic Alexander L'Estrange.

The piece is based on traditional folk songs and sea shanties and was originally written to celebrate the renovation of the Mary Rose in Portsmouth.

The concert was a sellout and has raised thousands of pounds for the hospice.
