2014 A level and Pre-U results breakdown

It was A grades all round when Walthamstow Hall students collected their A level and Cambridge Pre-U results this morning.

At Cambridge Pre-U an incredible 100% of grades were equivalent to A, A*, or higher, with 5 students gaining the very top grade of a D1 (Distinction 1) which is markedly higher than an A level A*.

Overall, an incredible 76% of A level and Pre-U grades were As or A*s. 59% of students picked up 3 or more A or A*s.

95% of students will be taking up their first choice places at the UK's top Russell Group Universities. Average UCAS points were 428 per student (up 6 points on 2013).

With so many A and A* grades (89% of students achieved one or more) it is hard to pull out individual stories of achievement. Nearly 20% of students achieved straight A* grades or higher including: Joanna Kaye who is going on to read English and Spanish at Oxford; Anna Efthimiou who is going on to read Management and Marketing at Leeds; Olivia Lloyd going to Exeter to read English; Nicole Sharp going to Durham to read Biomedical Sciences; Rosalind Whittaker going on to read English at Exeter and Emma Smith going to read Medicine at Oxford.

Speaking as the girls and their parents came in to collect their results, Mrs Milner said;

 “Every year I wonder how the girls will surpass the results achieved before and every year they do. I am absolutely thrilled to see that so many of our students have excelled in their studies without compromising their many other interests and talents; they are remarkably busy multi-taskers! These results are a testament to their hard work and the high levels of ‘added value’ which Walthamstow Hall teachers deliver. It is fabulous to see well over 95% of our girls heading off to their first choice universities this autumn.”
